ETIAS
The ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) travel authorization is a requirement for visa-exempt nationals traveling to 30 European countries. It is linked to the traveler’s passport and remains valid for up to three years or until the passport’s expiration, whichever comes first. If a new passport is obtained, a new ETIAS travel authorization must be obtained as well.
Having a valid ETIAS allows travelers to enter the territory of these European countries multiple times for short stays, typically up to 90 days within a 180-day period. However, it doesn’t guarantee entry, and border guards will check your passport and other documents to ensure you meet the entry conditions.
These countries require ETIAS to enter.

Who Needs to have ETIAS?
If you are a citizen of these countries you will need to apply for an ETIAS travel authorization.

If you are from one of the countries listed and intend to have a short-term stay in any of the 30 European countries mentioned, you will require an ETIAS travel authorization. It’s important to check the specific travel document requirements for nationals of certain visa-exempt countries to ensure compliance. If you are a family member of an EU citizen or a citizen of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Switzerland from the visa-exempt countries, there is additional information available in the provided FAQ regarding applying for an ETIAS travel authorization.
There is a list of who does not require authorization on the official website.
The Application Process
Travelers can apply for ETIAS through the official website or the upcoming mobile app. The application will be cross-checked with other European databases, and the automatic processing typically takes a few minutes. Applicants will receive a response via email. In rare cases where more information is required, the decision may take up to 30 days, so it’s advisable to apply well in advance.
In addition to the ETIAS full authorisation there is a level of authorisation with Limited Validity. It limits your movements in the European Union and can be used in cases of:
Travel Documents

A travel document which does not comply with international standards may be rejected during the application process. It may also pose problems when a carrier verifies your travel authorisation prior to boarding. If you have any doubt about whether your travel document entitles you to cross the borders of the European countries requiring ETIAS (and to apply for an ETIAS travel authorisation), please check the
